Xiaomi is no stranger to gaming-focused devices. In fact, they even launched a gaming arm called BlackShark in 2018, similar to how ASUS and Lenovo have their Republic of Gamers (ROG) and Legion sub-brands.
Now, Xiaomi is dipping its toes once again in the gaming market with a gaming-focused tablet. However, the tablet won’t be released under the BlackShark brand; instead, it will be launched under the REDMI moniker.
What we know so far…
Since no name has still been given to the tablet, we’ll just call it the REDMI tablet for now. The unknown REDMI tablet is rumored to feature an 8.8-inch LCD display with support for a high refresh rate. Powering it will be MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400+, the marginal successor to the D9400.
Where are the gaming goodies?
While all of that seems capable enough to handle gaming, it really isn’t gaming-focused, is it? Where you’d be wrong, because underneath all that lies a dual X-axis linear motor that provides haptic feedback, similar to the rumble effect of console controllers.
There are also dual USB-C ports, which could be used for connecting other accessories while still having the ability to charge simultaneously. As for audio, Xiaomi is reportedly packing the REDMI tablet with a dual-speaker setup, making it an entertainment powerhouse.
We still don’t know much about the REDMI tablet’s appearance or build, but what we do know is that it will feature a metal unibody design. Would it lean into the gamer aesthetic similar to other gaming tablets? We won’t know for sure.
When will it launch?
But what we do know is that it will launch alongside the REDMI K80 Ultra, another gaming-focused device from Xiaomi. Launch is expected to come around Q3 2025, ushering in a new phase in Xiaomi’s device lineup.
Given Xiaomi’s reputation for delivering high-performance, high-quality devices at a lower price than its competitors, there’s no doubt that the REDMI tablet will follow in those footsteps. Offering similar performance to industry leaders while still being cheap enough for everyone to enjoy.
