REDMI K80 launched: SD 8 Gen 3, up to 16+1TB storage, huge 6550mAh battery, Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, IP68 and more

The REDMI K80 has officially launched with significant upgrades in both performance and battery life compared to its predecessor, the REDMI K70. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip—last year’s flagship processor—the K80 also boasts an impressive 6,550mAh battery, offering a substantial 1,550mAh boost over the K70’s battery capacity.

Key Features of the REDMI K80

Performance & Battery

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ensures flagship-level performance, making the REDMI K80 a powerhouse for gaming, multitasking, and productivity. The massive 6,550mAh battery ensures long-lasting use, promising nearly two full days of usage on a single charge, depending on usage habits. Charging is fast with the inclusion of the P3 chip for 90W wired charging. Though it’s slower than the K70’s 120W, the charging speed remains impressive. Note that the K80 does not support wireless charging.

Display

The REDMI K80 features a 6.67-inch OLED display with HDR10+Dolby Vision, and HDR Vivid support. It offers stunning visuals with 12-bit color depth and peaks at a remarkable 3,200 nits. The display is also energy-efficient, being 8% more efficient than its predecessor, thanks to the use of new materials. It supports 120Hz refresh rate for a smooth scrolling experience and includes DC dimming for reduced flicker.

The display also houses an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, replacing the optical sensor found on the K70, providing a more secure and faster unlocking experience.

Camera System

In terms of the camera, the REDMI K80 shares a similar setup with the K80 Pro. It features a 50MP OmniVision OVX8000 sensor (1/1.55”) with an f/1.6 lens and OIS for superior low-light performance and stable shots. It can record 8K video at 24fps, as well as 4K and 1080p video at up to 60fps.

The ultra-wide camera is an 8MP lens, and while there is no dedicated telephoto lens, the phone still offers solid photography capabilities. The selfie camera has received a nice upgrade, now featuring a 20MP sensor for sharper and clearer selfies.

Durability

The K80 is built to withstand more than its predecessor, now featuring IP68 dust and water resistance (can survive submersion up to 2.5 meters underwater) and Gorilla Glass 7i for added durability.

Connectivity

The device is future-proof with 5G connectivityWi-Fi 7 (supporting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands), and Bluetooth 5.4.
