The Redmi K80 Pro is inching closer to its official launch, as evidenced by its recent appearance on the IMEI database. Following the release of the Redmi K70 series in November 2023, Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil its successor.
A recent leak has provided a glimpse into the design of the Redmi K80 Pro, showcasing a departure from the large rectangular camera module found on its predecessor. Instead, the K80 Pro is expected to feature a cleaner circular design. Additionally, the Redmi logo has been repositioned from the center to the bottom left corner of the device.
While the camera island’s aesthetics have changed, the arrangement of the sensors and flash module appears to remain consistent. This aligns with previous rumors from renowned tipster Digital Chat Station.
In terms of imaging capabilities, the Redmi K80 Pro is rumored to offer improved performance with a 50MP main sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. This is a step up from the K70 Pro’s 50MP 1/1.55″ main sensor, 50MP periscope telephoto, and 12MP ultrawide setup.
Under the hood, the K80 series is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon processors. The standard model may feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, while the Pro variant could be equipped with the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. To complement the performance, a larger 6000mAh battery with 120W wired charging is anticipated.
Another upgrade expected for the K80 series is the transition from an under-display optical fingerprint scanner to an ultrasonic one. This technology offers a more responsive and accurate unlocking experience. Additionally, all models in the series are rumored to feature a 2K flat OLED display.
With these potential enhancements, the Redmi K80 series is poised to offer a compelling combination of performance, design, and features.
