Redmi K90 Series launching early after leak exposes timeline

The Redmi K90 Series may arrive a month earlier than its predecessor.

The Redmi K80 is just fresh out of the oven yet a new leak suggests that the successor is already in the works with a launch timeline. If you didn’t know, the Redmi K80 is yet to be released globally and is currently speculated as the main component of the POCO F7 Series.

According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K90 Series’ launch is a month earlier than the predecessor. So, that’s in October instead of November this year.

While specs are scarce, a previous leak indicated that the Redmi K90 vanilla model will feature a custom chipset called Snapdragon SM8845, which has Snapdragon 8 Elite-like performance.

What else? A 2K OLED panel and a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor. The price is expected to keep its aggressive stance, but it’s likely getting a price hike at the CNY 5,000 bracket. If so, that’s around PHP 40K in direct conversion.

Looking for an affordable Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone is a tall order in many regions. But brands like Redmi are doing things to deliver this powerful chipset to a wider audience, either by adjusting some specs or working with Qualcomm for custom versions with similar performance.
