Redmi Note 12 with Dimensity 1080 will launch in China soon

Looks like we’ll be witnessing the first smartphone with the new Dimensity 1080 mid-ranger chipset before the year ends…barely.

Xiaomi is eyeing out for the Redmi Note 12 Series in China around mid-November to next year, and leaks started to pour in, as MediaTek’s new mid-range processor will debut in these devices.

Redmi Note 11

According to tipster Digital Chat Station via Weibo, the Redmi Note 12 will have the said Dimensity 1080 SoC that was recently announced just days ago by MediaTek themselves, with benchmark testing score matching to the Snapdragon 778G which graced a ton of smartphone models these year such as the eponymous debut of the Nothing Phone (1).

The much awaited Redmi Note 12 scored over 520,000 via AnTuTu (v.9.4). The Dimensity 1080 is based on a 6nm process with an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A78 cores that clocked at 2.6GHz, and paired with arm‘s Mali-G68 GPU for optimal performance.

The tipster also claimed before that the Redmi Note 12 will feature a 50MP ultra-wide camera on its rear. While it’s still unclear which Note 12 model will have it, but chances are likely that this feature will land on the higher end variant. The base model will have the 8MP ultra-wide with the 2MP “sticker cam” which means just a camera that serves no real purpose than to make the fact that it has an additional camera, you know, company tactics.
