REDMI is reportedly preparing a new Pro Max model for its Note 17 lineup, and the global version is bringing a bigger battery, faster charging, and a new chipset. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max will sit above the REDMI Note 17 Pro and is expected to launch as part of the company’s global lineup.
The REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 Pro were introduced in China in mid-July, followed by the vanilla Note 17 in India. REDMI is also preparing global versions with some hardware changes.
The global REDMI Note 17 Pro is expected to have a slightly smaller battery than the China and India models, an 8MP ultra-wide camera that was omitted from the China and India versions, and a 16MP selfie camera instead of the 8MP sensor used on those models.
The Pro Max will share much of its hardware with the global Note 17 Pro, but adds several upgrades.

The selfie camera gets a major upgrade over the global REDMI Note 17 Pro, moving to a 32MP sensor. The rear setup remains a 50MP main camera paired with an 8MP ultra-wide.
The source notes that sensor sizes for the cameras have not yet been revealed, so there could still be differences in the camera hardware beyond megapixel counts.
The biggest upgrade is the battery
The Pro Max earns its name with a 9,210mAh battery, paired with 100W fast charging.
That’s larger than the 8,340mAh battery reported for the global REDMI Note 17 Pro and even exceeds the 9,000mAh capacity of the Chinese REDMI Note 17 Pro.
Charging is also faster. Both the global and Chinese REDMI Note 17 Pro models use 67W charging, giving the Pro Max a significant advantage.
For comparison, the standard REDMI Note 17 packs a 7-inch display and an 8,000mAh battery in China and India, while the global version is expected to use a 7,700mAh battery.
Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 confirmed through Geekbench
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset.
The global model has already appeared on Geekbench under the model number Xiaomi 2609FRA74G, which is believed to correspond to the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max.
The tested device had 8GB of RAM, while a 12GB version is also expected.
Storage options are reportedly 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. The 128GB model will use UFS 2.1, while the 256GB and 512GB versions will get faster UFS 4.0 storage.
The Geekbench-listed phone was running Android 16.
Slightly bigger and heavier
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max is reportedly 163.4 × 78.3 × 8.6mm and weighs 230 grams.
That makes it slightly thicker and heavier than the Chinese REDMI Note 17 Pro, which measures 8.5mm thick and weighs 226 grams.
The extra weight and thickness come alongside the larger battery and upgraded charging system.
Pricing is still incomplete
Leaked pricing for the global REDMI Note 17 family has already surfaced, but the available table is not complete.
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max is expected to receive a 12GB configuration, while additional memory and storage combinations are also expected for the other Note 17 models.
The exact global pricing for every configuration has not been fully revealed yet.
A global-focused Pro Max
The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max is notable because the Chinese REDMI Note 17 lineup launched with only the REDMI Note 17 and REDMI Note 17 Pro.
The Pro Max is being prepared as a global model, giving international buyers a higher-end option with a larger battery and faster charging.
