New leak hinted at seven years of software updates guaranteed on Galaxy S24 devices. But are they getting seven major Android upgrades?
Software updates are important for your phones, tablets, computers, and other electronic gadgets. They often bring security improvements and bug fixes, but a lack of harmony exists in Android updates.
Samsung wants to join the consensus starting with the Galaxy S24 Series. The South Korean tech giant will adopt the update policy of Google, giving users a long-term coverage of improvements and security enhancements.
According to a report, Samsung’s update plan for the series will last for seven years, however, we can’t confirm what’s included. A seven-year software update coverage means more than security updates and should include major upgrades.
The Galaxy S24 lineup is expected to have Android 14 out of the box. With the leaked update plan, the lineup should get seven OS upgrades up to Android 21.
Aside from that, the series will arrive with Galaxy AI and some of its core functions are found in the camera. This AI-based feature will allow post-processing of photos, such as moving, shrinking, and deleting objects.
For the specs, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is the top-tier in the hardware division speculated with a quad-rear camera setup:
- 200MP wide angle lens with 2x optical quality zoom
- 50MP lens with 5x optical zoom
- 12MP ultrawide sensor
- 10MP with 3x optical zoom
The smartphone is rumored to have a 12MP front-facing camera.
The Galaxy S24 base model is suggested to have a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide lens, and 10MP lens, likely telephoto. The selfie camera is a 12MP lens.
Google Pixel devices have a very long software update support. Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have seven years with Android version updates and security updates until October 2030.
