Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is launching soon, here’s what to expect

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will be announced on January 23, 2 a.m. Manila time, during the Galaxy Unpacked event. Pre-orders will begin the following day.

It’s arriving very soon – the next Samsung flagship series, the Galaxy S25. But what can we expect from this top-tier entry of 2025?

1. Better comfort, brighter screen, and thinner bezels

The Galaxy S24 Ultra was a bit disappointing in terms of design due to its block layout. Galaxy S25 Ultra will return the curved with more rounded edges for improved ergonomics.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a larger display with incredibly thin bezels, making it on par with the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Xiaomi 15. It has a 6.8-inch screen with a 73-mm overall viewing area, better than its predecessor.

Additionally, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will boast a brighter display of 3,000 nits of peak brightness.

Ultra or not, the Galaxy S25 Series is speculated to have the same M13 OLED panels just like the Galaxy S24. This is a generation older than the M14 OLED used on the Google Pixel 9 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro.

2. New model of the series

Although it may not be launched alongside other Galaxy S25 models, we may see a teaser of the anticipated Galaxy S25 Slim. It’s a version of the Galaxy S25 Plus with a thinness of just 6.60-mm.

It’s still unconfirmed if the Galaxy S25 Slim will replace the Galaxy S25 FE model. We’ll know more when Samsung officially announces the series.

3. Less reflective, more durable

As a flagship, it’s only right that the Galaxy S25 Ultra gets the best display protection. In this case, it’s speculated to be equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass Armor, the next-gen version with higher durability and reduced reflectiveness.

4. Multiple color choices

With an exorbitant price, it’s obvious that buyers should be given a wide variety of color options when choosing their Galaxy S25 Ultra. According to a report, the flagship will be launched in seven different colors, which are:

  • Titanium SilverBlue
  • Titanium WhiteSilver
  • Titanium Gray
  • Titanium JadeGreen
  • Titanium PinkGold
  • Titanium Black
  • Titanium JetBlack

Exclusive colors, rumored to be available via Samsung online store, are JetBlack, JadeGreen, and PinkGold.

Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus, on the other hand, will be available in Moon Night Blue, Silver Shadow, Sparking Blue, and Sparkling Green. Additional colorways are yet to be confirmed.

5. Same camera with a new ultra-wide sensor

The rear camera system of the Galaxy S25 Ultra is speculated with:

  • 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor
  • 12MP Sony IMX754 with 3x zoom
  • 50MP Sony IMX854 telephoto lens

However, the system has an alleged upgrade in the new 50MP ISOCELL S5KJN3 ultra-wide sensor with 1.0µm pre-binned pixels. The selfie camera is expected to be the same 12 MP ISOCELL S5K3LU.

As for the other models, the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus may have the same cameras as their predecessors unless the rumored ISOCELL GNJ is added to them. The Galaxy S25 Slim may get an “Ultra” treatment.

6. Solid performance

All Galaxy S25 models will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. This means we can definitely get top-of-the-line performance across all models, thanks to the exclusive custom Snapdragon chipsets for Samsung flagships.

It’s also possible that the brand will ditch the 8GB RAM base choice and start the minimum 12GB RAM in this series.

7. Powerful software

Expect the Galaxy S25 Series to harness AI features with ease, thanks to the new One UI 7 and Gemini Advanced, with the latter expected to be free for a year. Of course, the new flagship lineup will get a multi-year software support period.

8. Battery Life

So far, the Galaxy S25 Series will have the same battery as the previous generation. This means:

  • 4000mAh + 25W for Galaxy S25
  • 4900mAh + 45W for Galaxy S25 Plus
  • 5000mAh + 45W for Galaxy S25 Ultra

The Galaxy S25 Slim may get a 4,700 mAh battery capacity.

9. Pricing

The use of Snapdragon 8 Elite may be the biggest price hike factor on the Galaxy S25 Series. But if Samsung figured out a solution, the starting prices may go as:

  • Galaxy S25 12+256GB at $799
  • Galaxy S25 Plus 12+256GB at $999
  • Galaxy S25 Ultra at $1,299

What do you think?
