The Samsung Galaxy S25 base model is getting real flagship treatment with the bigger 12GB RAM and Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Despite being a flagship smartphone, the base Galaxy S24 is a bit disappointing with a starting memory of 8GB. So, the latest in the rumor mill of 12GB on the Galaxy S25 is a step-up.
That rumor started when a device with the model number Samsung SM-S931N surfaced on Geekbench. This one scored 2,481 on single-core performance and 8,658 on multi-score performance.
It’s powered by an eight-core CPU with a base frequency of 3.53GHz and a max frequency of 4.47GHz. This could be the Snapdragon 8 Elite, perhaps the custom version for Galaxy flagships.
Below the CPU details is the memory size of 10.75GB, which indicates 12GB of full RAM. The missing GBs are reserved memory for the hardware and are not meant for general use or other purposes.
Galaxy S25 base model with 12GB RAM is a leap compared to the 8GB RAM on the base iPhone 16. However, iPhones use a different OS and throwing a massive memory to a well-optimized system is just an overkill.
Take everything with a grain of salt because what surfaced on Geekbench may just be the 12GB model.
Should Samsung remove the 8GB RAM starting model from its flagship lineup?
