Samsung is preparing to make its next clamshell foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip8, slimmer and lighter than ever. According to recent reports, the company is aiming for a major design improvement that will make the Flip8 easier to carry, use, and pocket compared to its predecessor.
A major trim in size and weight
Korean outlet The Bell claims that the Galaxy Z Flip8 will be more than ten percent thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Z Flip7. For context, the Flip7 weighed around 188 grams and measured about 13.7 millimeters when folded. If these reports hold true, the Flip8 could weigh around 169 grams and fold down to roughly 12 millimeters thick. That would make it one of the most compact foldables ever released.
Why this matters
A thinner and lighter Flip means more comfort and convenience in everyday use. Foldable phones are known for being bulky, and Samsung seems to be tackling that issue head-on.
