Samsung’s Good Lock suite, a platform for user interface customization, has seen an update to its Theme Park module. This update introduces an “Effects” menu designed to alter the visual appearance of app icons.

Good Lock is a software toolkit developed by Good Lock Labs in collaboration with Samsung, available through the Galaxy Store. It provides Samsung Galaxy users with various modules to customize aspects of their device’s UI and overall user experience, including elements like lock screens, notifications, and keyboards. The Theme Park module within Good Lock allows for theme creation based on wallpapers, offering control over colors, shapes, and fonts. The recent update expands these customization capabilities specifically for app icons.

Icon Modification: The New “Effects” Options
The primary addition in this Theme Park update is the “Effects” menu, which applies visual treatments to app icons. Five distinct effect options are provided:
1. Basic: Presents a standard icon appearance.
2. Film Grain: Applies a textured overlay to icons.
3. Duotone: Converts icon colors into a two-tone scheme.
4. Glass: Introduces a translucent overlay with a glass-like appearance. This effect includes options for adjusting opacity and transparency.
5. Gradient: Applies color transitions to icons.
The ability to modify parameters such as opacity or color is available for the Glass, Film Grain, and Gradient effects, offering users some control over the application of these styles.
Accessing the Update
To access these new icon effects, users should update the Theme Park module. The update, sometimes referred to as version 1.1.01.23, can typically be found within the Good Lock application by navigating to the Theme Park module and checking for available updates through the Galaxy Store. Some users have reported that a device restart may be necessary for the update option to become visible.
Current Implementation Notes
While the “Effects” menu functions as intended for many icons, it has been observed that the effects may not apply uniformly across all app icons. The Google Play Store icon, for instance, has been cited as an example where the effect may not render as expected. This suggests that the feature’s compatibility with all third-party app icons may vary at present. Future updates to the module may address such inconsistencies.
This update to Theme Park provides Samsung Galaxy users with additional options for icon customization, expanding the aesthetic modifications available within the Good Lock ecosystem.
