New leaks suggest that Samsung is developing a wider foldable smartphone that could expand its foldable lineup beyond the traditional Galaxy Z Fold design. The device often referred to as a “wide foldable” is rumored to feature a 7.6-inch inner display and a 4,800mAh battery.
A wider foldable design
According to a leak from tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung’s upcoming wide foldable will include a 7.6-inch main display, giving users a tablet-like viewing experience when the device is unfolded.
The screen is expected to adopt a shorter and wider aspect ratio, reportedly close to 4:3, which could make multitasking, reading, and media consumption feel more natural compared to the taller format used in current Galaxy Z Fold models.
Flagship chipset and battery setup
Under the hood, the device is rumored to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. This would align the phone’s performance with Samsung’s upcoming foldables, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The phone is also expected to use a dual-cell battery design with a typical capacity of around 4,800mAh. Reports suggest the battery may consist of two cells rated at roughly 2,267mAh and 2,393mAh, combining for a minimum capacity of about 4,660mAh.
Part of a broader foldable strategy
Samsung has been steadily expanding its foldable lineup in recent years, which already includes devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, a triple-fold device with a 10-inch display.
The rumored wide foldable could become another addition to this growing portfolio, potentially launching alongside or after Samsung’s next generation of foldables in 2026.
While the company has not officially confirmed the device, the leaks suggest Samsung may be experimenting with new foldable form factors to compete with emerging designs from rivals and upcoming foldable phones from other brands.
