Samsung’s next big foldable might come with not one but three batteries. A new patent spotted in Korea shows a possible tri fold smartphone with a unique power setup that splits the battery across each folding segment.
The Tri-Fold Has Three Batteries But One Goal
Instead of a single big pack, each section of the phone may hold its own battery. The smallest one sits near the cameras, while the largest is tucked inside the main folding part. This could help with weight balance and heat control, while keeping the device thin.
Of course, syncing three batteries is tricky since they need to work perfectly together to deliver smooth performance and charging.
The design looks like a more advanced Galaxy Z Fold, but with an extra hinge and a much wider screen. Some reports say it could unfold to almost ten inches, basically turning into a mini tablet.
Samsung is said to be testing new battery technology that boosts capacity without taking more space. Industry talk points to a launch sometime in late 2025, as Samsung’s mobile chief hinted that a new form factor is coming soon.
The tri fold might still be in its early stages, but this patent shows Samsung is far from done innovating. If it pulls this off, the next Galaxy Fold could make today’s foldables look basic.
