SHEEESH! PLDT as the fastest ISP in the Philippines for 5 years!

In an event in Makati City last night, global benchmarking firm Ookla hailed PLDT as the “fastest internet service provider in the Philippines once more!

According to Ookla, PLDT is the fastest internet provider in the Philippines for 5 straight years!

According to Ookla, PLDT achieved a top speed score of 86.52 in 2022 to win this award. In 2022, the Speed Score of PLDT was 77.91.

Telco giant PLDT said that the win could be attributed to aggressive network expansion with the goal of lifting the quality of consumer experience. This is the 5th consecutive win for PLDT, a rare five-peat. Only Singapore’s ViewQWest has had this honor in Southeast Asia.

In 2022, the group recorded 6.08 million fiber-powered ports to cover 17,700 barangays nationwide. PLDT’s fiber network in the country now spans 1.1 million kilometers, extending its reach to 17.2 million homes passed, in 68 percent of the country’s cities and municipalities.

PLDT is also boasting that the company is the only telco in the country with up to 10 Gbps speed. Only South Korea, Japan, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, and the USA are the other countries with that broadband speed for homes.

As of end-2022, PLDT also added 1.1 million new fiber subscribers to capture 59 percent of fiber customer industry growth last year. The total number of fiber subscribers of PLDT is up to 2.9 million.

In February, PLDT even offered a permanent up to 2x speed boost on all plans for FREE.
