Sky Cable signing off February 26

The approval of the PLDT-Sky acquisition deal led to the official signoff of the cable provider next month.

Amid the PLDT acquisition of Sky, the cable service provider announced that it will soon pull the plug on its pay TV. The official last broadcast day and signoff of Sky Cable is on February 26, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

“In anticipation of and pursuant to the closing conditions of the PLDT-Sky acquisition deal, Sky will now begin its transition into a dedicated internet service provider,” Sky announced.

That said, subscribers under cable TV plans will probably wonder what happens to their bundled service. They may receive details on how the changes will affect their service via KYLA, visiting Sky Zones and business centers, or at the official MySky website.

Those who are using Sky Fiber services will continue, but as for the changes in the package or price, subscribers should call the provider for more details.

As mentioned, the shutdown is linked to the acquisition deal. ABS-CBN’s sale of its broadband business to PLDT is nearing its finalization after PH’s antitrust watchdog approved of the transaction on January 19, 2024.

An update will be released on March 16 for a number of closing conditions still subject to change. PLDT said that the acquisition of Sky will benefit subscribers of both companies with boosted coverage of their services.
