Apple’s next-generation Pro iPhones may finally bring a noticeable front-facing design change just not in the way many expected. New leaks suggest that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a smaller Dynamic Island, potentially marking the biggest visual update to the lineup this year.

The latest claim comes from a tipster on X, who reportedly obtained CAD files for the upcoming devices likely originating from case manufacturers working with Apple’s design specs.
Based on these files, the punch-hole cutout at the top of the display appears noticeably smaller than what Apple has used since the iPhone 14 Pro series. The change isn’t just subtle either. The cutout looks less wide, though possibly slightly taller, suggesting a shift in how internal components are arranged.
If the leak proves accurate, the reduced size may point to Apple moving some Face ID or Touch ID components under the display. By relocating sensors beneath the screen, fewer elements would need to occupy the visible cutout allowing the Dynamic Island to shrink.
While the report specifically mentions Touch ID sensors as a possibility, Apple has not confirmed any such changes, leaving room for speculation on how the company is restructuring its front-facing hardware.
Interestingly, the front may be where most of the design evolution happens. Current rumors suggest that the rear design of both Pro models will remain largely unchanged compared to their predecessors.
If that holds true, the smaller Dynamic Island could end up being the primary visual upgrade for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. A refinement rather than a complete redesign.
For months, rumors have gone back and forth on whether Apple would actually shrink the Dynamic Island. This latest leak adds weight to the idea, but as with all early CAD-based reports, it should be taken cautiously.
If accurate, though, Apple may finally be taking the next step toward a cleaner, more immersive display one small cutout at a time.
