Qualcomm‘s next budget smartphone chip has surfaced online. A leaked internal datasheet has revealed the key specifications of the upcoming Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 (SM4875), bringing upgrades to graphics, memory, connectivity, and security for affordable smartphones expected next year.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and uses the same CPU configuration as its predecessor, featuring two Cortex-A78 performance cores with 256KB L2 cache each, six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores with 64KB L2 cache each, and a shared 1MB L3 cache.
The biggest change is the move from the Adreno 4-series GPU to the newer Adreno 6-series GPU. Since the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 already delivered a reported 77% graphics performance boost over the previous generation, the new GPU could bring even smoother gaming, animations, and media playback.
The chipset now supports dual-channel LPDDR5 memory at up to 3200MHz, while still remaining compatible with LPDDR4X. This allows manufacturers to choose between higher performance or lower-cost memory depending on the device.
For connectivity, Qualcomm offers two wireless options: WCN3998-2 with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2, or WCN6750, which upgrades to Wi-Fi 6.
The chipset also includes hardware-based ECC image certification, Widevine L1 for HD streaming, and a new Trust Management Engine for added security.
The Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 uses a larger PSP917 package measuring 11.1 × 12.0mm, likely to accommodate its upgraded hardware.
Compared to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, the new chip focuses on refining the experience with a newer GPU, faster memory support, and additional connectivity and security features rather than introducing a major CPU redesign.
Since these details come from a leaked internal document, the specifications should still be considered unofficial until Qualcomm makes the Snapdragon 4 Gen 6 official.
