Qualcomm has quietly introduced the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a new chipset designed to bring enhanced performance to affordable smartphones. Essentially a rebranded version of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the 6 Gen 3 offers a similar architecture but with slightly reduced clock speeds.
Key Features of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3:
- CPU: Octa-core processor with 4x 2.4 GHz Cortex-A78 performance cores and 4x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 efficiency cores
- GPU: Adreno 710
- Memory Support: LPDDR4x/LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage
While the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 shares many similarities with its predecessor, the 7s Gen 2, there are a few key differences. The 7s Gen 2 supports 144Hz refresh rates at FHD+ resolution, a feature that is absent in the 6 Gen 3. Otherwise, the two chipsets offer comparable performance and features.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is expected to provide a noticeable boost to the performance of budget-friendly smartphones, enabling users to enjoy smoother experiences and better gaming capabilities.
