The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, Qualcomm’s latest mid-range processor, has officially been announced. Sitting just below the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 in the company’s lineup, this 4nm chip promises to bring “remarkable AI experiences” to more affordable smartphones.
With orders already secured from Samsung, realme, and Sharp, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is set to make its debut in various devices in the coming months. Xiaomi, however, has the honor of introducing the world’s first smartphone powered by this processor, which is expected to be unveiled in September.
Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, the new chip offers significant performance improvements. It boasts a 20% boost in CPU performance, a 40% faster GPU, a 30% improvement in AI capabilities, and an overall 12% reduction in power consumption.
Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 features a Kryo CPU with one Prime core clocked at 2.5 GHz, three Performance cores at 2.4 GHz, and four Efficiency cores at 1.8 GHz. It supports up to 16GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, ensuring smooth multitasking and fast app loading.
Thanks to its dedicated AI Engine NPU, the chip enables on-device generative AI tasks. Additionally, it supports AI-based noise cancellation and reduction, as well as capturing stunning 200MP photos and 4K HDR videos. The Spectra Triple ISP allows for concurrent photo and video capture with ultra-fast parallel processing and smooth zooming.
For visual enthusiasts, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports displays up to FHD+ and 144 Hz. Gamers will appreciate features like Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, Variable Rate Shading, Adreno HDR Fast Blend, and Vulkan 1.3 API support.
On the connectivity front, the chip offers 5G mmWave and Sub-6 support, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and various global positioning systems.
With its impressive performance, AI capabilities, and competitive pricing, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is poised to bring a premium smartphone experience to a wider audience.
