Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 leaks: 3nm process, Adreno 830 GPU(fastest smartphone GPU), GPU interpolation

Recent leaks have shed light on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, highlighting the inclusion of an Adreno 8-series GPU. While specific details about the Adreno 830 remain scarce, a tipster has revealed that it is being tested at a significantly higher clock speed than its predecessor, the Adreno 750 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

According to Ice Universe, the Adreno 830 is operating at 1,250MHz during testing, a substantial increase from the overclocked Adreno 750’s 1,000MHz. This boost is likely attributed to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4’s use of TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, which offers improved energy efficiency.

The higher clock speed could explain why the Adreno 830 reportedly outperformed Apple’s M2 GPU in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. If these rumors prove accurate, the Adreno 830 could potentially become the fastest smartphone graphics processor available.

Qualcomm is also said to be incorporating memory compression and GPU Interpolation Technology, similar to NVIDIA’s Frame Generation, to enhance gaming performance.

However, it’s important to note that while higher clock speeds are promising, actual performance can be influenced by factors such as ambient temperature, smartphone cooling solutions, and other variables.

As we eagerly await the official release of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, we can anticipate a significant leap in mobile graphics performance, thanks to the Adreno 830 GPU and its impressive capabilities.
