The shift in naming from the Snapdragon 8 Gen series to the Snapdragon 8 Elite aligns with Qualcomm’s recent decision to move away from the triple-number naming convention (e.g., Snapdragon 888+). However, this new naming scheme has drawn some criticism for its potential confusion.
Some argue that the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s lower-specced variant should be called the Snapdragon 8 Plus, given the previous naming trends. This inconsistency could lead to misunderstandings among consumers.
