While early benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 have highlighted its impressive CPU performance, the Adreno 830 GPU might be an even bigger upgrade. A Weibo user has reported a 43% to 56% improvement in GPU performance compared to its predecessor.
The Adreno 830 is expected to run at 1.15GHz, although higher clock speeds of up to 1.25GHz have been mentioned. It’s worth noting that these benchmarks were conducted on a Qualcomm Reference Device, which may not represent the final clock speeds of retail units.
GFX Bench’s Aztec Ruins High test showed the 8 Gen 4 achieving 125fps, compared to 96fps for the Adreno 750 in the 8 Gen 3. Other benchmarks included 166fps on 3DMark’s Wild Life offscreen test and 44fps on Wild Life Extreme Unlimited.
The Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are expected to be among the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, followed by the OnePlus 13 and iQOO 13. While the Galaxy S25 Ultra has also been benchmarked, it’s unclear if there will be a higher-clocked “for Galaxy” version this year.
Regarding the CPU, the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s prime cores have been clocked at various speeds, ranging from 4.1GHz to 4.32GHz. While previous rumors suggested that Qualcomm might dual-source the 8 Gen 4 chips, recent information indicates that they will be manufactured exclusively on TSMC’s 3nm process.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is expected to be unveiled next month, with the first smartphones featuring it likely to be available shortly after. OnePlus has confirmed an October launch for the OnePlus 13, while the Xiaomi devices could arrive even sooner.
