Qualcomm has officially revealed the new Snapdragon 8 Gen Plus 1. The new chipset promises to deliver a boosted performance in comparison to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
While most phones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 has a ton of attractive features that will cater to both gamers and non-gamers alike, one of the main problems the SoC commonly runs into is the power consumption.
Compared to other Snapdragon chipsets, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 consumes more power, up to 5.3W. It even underperforms in the energy management department when compared to the Dimensity 9000 chipset.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen Plus 1 should be able to attract more consumers back into the Android smartphone market with a 30% improvement in energy efficiency.
Although both chipsets use a 4nm architecture, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 fails to manage thermals, and this is where the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus shines best.
The SD 8 Gen 1+ will have 10% additional CPU processing power, in conjunction with the 30% better energy efficiency. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will also increase GPU performance by the same amount – a 10% increase in GPU clock speeds, and a 30% power reduction.
