Qualcomm is reportedly gearing up to launch an overclocked, or “Turbo,” version of its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. This comes on the heels of the standard 8s Gen 4, which has already established itself as a strong performer in the upper-midrange market. This new “Pro” or “Plus” variant, as some sources refer to it, is a strategic play that could shake up the competition.
The Core of the Rumor
A new leak suggests that Qualcomm is preparing a higher-binned version of the 8s Gen 4. This would mean a chip with overclocked cores, delivering what is being called “turbo performance.” The standard 8s Gen 4 already utilizes a powerful 1+3+2+2 core configuration with a Cortex-X4 prime core and a mix of Cortex-A720 performance and efficiency cores. The “Turbo” version would simply push these cores to higher clock speeds.

Early benchmarks of the standard 8s Gen 4 show it’s a formidable chip, often matching or even surpassing the CPU performance of the 2023 flagship 8 Gen 3.
