Insider suggests that the PS5 Pro remains on track but not many first-party titles are supporting an important criterion.
Those eagerly waiting for the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro might have been put off by some recent revelations. A popular tipster cleared things up, suggesting an even chance of launch this year.
Previously, tipster Tom Henderson tweeted on X: “If it releases this year!” Some asked if the device would arrive this year or pushed to next year.
Thus, Henderson clarified a few things. Developers could submit their applications to support PS5 Pro to the Platform Certification and Operations (CertOps) on July 30. This date was finalized 18 months ago.
All applications for PS5 on games set for release after September 15 must support PS5 Pro as well. But that doesn’t mean that PS5 Pro is coming out on September 16.
That criterion is what makes things doubtful for many people. First-party games that support both PS5 Pro remain limited.
Regardless, there’s no solid evidence of PS5 Pro postponement this year. If the release date goes as planned, the PS5 Pro may be launched in the holidays.
As for features, the PS5 Pro is speculated with:
- Bigger GPU with faster memory for 45% better performance in rasterized rendering
- Upgraded ray tracing, 2x to 3x better than regular PS5
- Custom machine learning with 300 TOPS support at 8-bit
- Sony’s version of Multi Frame Super Resolution
Where it may be teased? The Tokyo Game Show is a good bet. Sony could also have their own exclusive event for the upcoming console.
