The upcoming flagship from TECNO is likely infused with a new AI suite co-created by MediaTek.
Chipmaker MediaTek and rising smartphone brand TECNO partnered up to drive the next wave of AI revolution. The two started an initiative with a new AI lab, launched on September 19, 2024.
The main goal is to advance AI technology with focus on AI solutions for smart terminals, including smartphones. According to a report, the four focused areas of the joint laboratory are:
- Large Language Models to leverage advanced AI models for communication and data understanding.
- Intelligent Agents and AI Assistants for creating smart assistants to handle tasks better.
- AI Imaging on Mobile Devices for AI-enhanced mobile photography and video experiences.
- Generative AI Solutions for on-device AI-powered solutions.
MediaTek plays a key role in developing AI functionalities for upcoming TECNO devices. The chipmaker will focus on three AI-based technologies:
- Generative AI that can generate content or manage tasks independently.
- Multimodal AI that can analyze and process different data types, including pics, sound, and text.
- Agent Intelligence that can help users understand and accomplish complex tasks.
The collaboration between the two isn’t surprising as the era of AI is in full swing. Apple and Samsung have already deployed their respective AI suite for mobile devices. The same goes for other tech giants like Qualcomm, Intel, and Nvidia.
The first TECNO device to have the next-gen AI technologies from this collaboration is yet to be announced.
