Here are the five reasons why the TECNO CAMON 30S is a great buy, and the not-so-great ones.
The TECNO CAMON 30S brings the newest and most powerful 4G processor, the Helio G100 into the table – augmented with decent specs, and an SRP of almost 10K(with a sub 8k sale price), is it a game-changer or just a compromise?
The main specs of the TECNO CAMON 30S are composed of the MediaTek Helio G100 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB ROM, a large 6.78” AMOLED panel, and a 5,000mAh battery. At a glance, they look really but plenty of naggers will still say: “Why is the processor only 4G? Why is it not 5G”? Well….
The 50+2MP rear camera setup is enough for most shots and the 13MP selfie camera is an upgrade compared to its peers. The CAMON sub-brand of TECNO has efficient camera software so that’s a plus.
The handset runs Android 14 with HiOS 14 on top, but we don’t know if it’ll get a major software upgrade.
Reasons Why It’s a Great Buy
- Fastest 4G processor in the market
- 1080p Curved AMOLED display.
- Dual-LED flashes on the back and front cameras.
- Infrared Port
- NFC functionality for contactless payment.
Not-So-Great Reasons
- Lower IP rating compared to its peers.
- The curved display might be a pet peeve for some users.
- UFS 2.2 only, as per CPU support.
- Major software upgrades uncertain.
- No bypass charging; minor downside.
The TECNO CAMON 30S went through the hard balancing of its price and specs. So, here are some alternatives:
- nubia Neo 2 5G: Slightly more expensive but with a 5G Unisoc T820, 8/256GB memory, 6.72″ 1080p IPS LCD 120Hz display, 6000mAh battery, 33W charging, bypass charging.
- TECNO SPARK 30 Pro: It has the same specs but it has a better main camera and a lower price point.
- TECNO SPARK 20 Pro 5G (5G CPU): It has the same specs except a 5G Dimensity 6080 processor and a more powerful 108MP main camera – also a weaker 8MP selfie camera.
