Tecno Pop 6 – Saan Kaya Nabibilang Sa Ating Smartphone Tier List?

Now is the time na kailangan nang hatulan ang Tecno Pop 6 – a small, humble smartphone under 4k, na ang sabi-sabi e para daw for ‘kids’ lang exclusively. But we disagree, I think Tecno Pop 6 has more to offer…

Obvious na obvious naman, we are huge Tecno fans dahil sa competitive specs nito matched with its affordable price– pero ang siste, itong Tecno Pop 6, nagpataas sa kilay ng ilang Tecno fans maging mga casual consumers, dahil nga entry-level ito, hindi ito for you kung picky ka sa specs.

Display

Mukha siyang rugged phone sa harapan without the ruggedness, only the looks since the Tecno Pop 6 is neither waterproof or dust-proof. 720p ang kaniyang resolution, which kahit mababa based on today’s standards, power saver naman ang ganitong display at hindi naman gaano nakakaapekto sa experience when watching, scrolling, or gaming.

My front, my back, may loudspeaker siya sa back!

Yes, it’s been ages since nakakita tayo ng modern smartphone na may back-firing loudspeakers. Ang norm kasi ngayon is either sa ibabang part ng smartphone or front-firing ang speaker. So maybe that’s a plus?

The sides

Sa kaniyang ibabaw na part, makikita ang mythical na 3.5mm headphone jack, sa left side ang SIM tray with dual Nano-SIM slots at bukod na tray para sa microSD for expandability up to 256GB. Sa right side naman makikita ang volume buttons at power button, while sa ibaba makikita ang microphone slit, at microUSB charger– yeah, a letdown for us, sana nag-Type C na lang din pero, remember: entry-level phone ito.

Picture-picture aaaaahhhh! (picture-picture ahhh what a beautiful daaay)

Sa usapang camera, parehas 5MP ang kaniyang front and rear camera at parehas may flash (a rarity sa mga selfie cam modules), habang may isa pang bilog para sa QVGA Camera slot, we guess? We take it back, mukhang design choice lang ito because kahit tutukan namin ng flashlight ay wala kaming maaninag sa sharingan-esque ‘second’ camera slot. The right word is serviceable, it does the job, but don’t expect any fancy tuning with the Pop 6.

Will.It.Game?

Dahil sa kaniyang 2GB RAM at 32GB ROM, Mediatek MT6739WA na may Quad-Cores, at PowerVR IMG GE8100 GPU– mukhang magiging challenging ang paglalaro dito sa Pop 6 since hindi siya ginawa for gaming, this acts as a quick second phone or a reliable phone for light to medium usage, or bagay sa mga taong gustong magbawas ng smartphone usage sa kanilang everyday routine. With an AnTuTu score of 51,365 points, it’s close to a feature phone than an Android one. Puwede pa rin naman siya makapaglaro ng games like Mobile Legends, Temple Run 2, Subway Surf at iba pang light to medium games, pero baka mag-lag when it comes to Call of Duty: Mobile, Free Fire, Minecraft, or even Roblox.

Battery power?

D’Anothers

What we like:

✔ Big battery (5000mAh)

✔ Rugged look with durable honeycomb back finish

✔ Dual Nano-SIM tray with separate microSD tray

✔ Back firing speaker that is decent sounding

✔ Android 11 Go Edition that’s appropriate for its specs, prevents the phone from throttling

✔ 720P display, which is a huge battery saver

✔ Can handle light to medium workload

✔ Front camera flash (rare)

✔ Cheap

What we dislike:

✘ microUSB for charging port

✘ Massive bezels

✘ Only 5W charger

✘ Basically can’t play FPS games or AA/AAA games

✘ So-so camera

✘ Waterdrop notch

Our final verdict: SAKTO LANG (3.3/5 ☆☆☆)

We got to cut some slack para sa ating Tecno Pop 6, despite its shortcomings, its still a pretty serviceable phone na hindi na masama for its price, just manage your expectations, or better yet, buy a refurbished one kung masyadong namamahalan.
