TECNO is taking the term “Paper Thin” to a whole ‘nother level

Among the impressive technological feats that TECNO showcased in their booths, there was one that stood out above the rest. Not because of some wacky technology they incorporated within the phone, but because of what they managed to squeeze inside such a thin and light device.

From Concept to Reality: The Spark Slim

Remember the Spark Slim concept phone? It was our first glimpse into the thin-and-light trend even before the iPhone 17 Air and Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge were more than just rumors. It now looks like TECNO is making it more than just a concept.

What’s even crazier is its rumored price. According to reports circulating online, TECNO could be planning to enter the premium thin-and-light segment, with the Spark Slim costing around $915—placing it right in the same range as the iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Edge.

Thin and Packing

But unlike the Spark Slim concept phone that was debuted in MWC 2025 which advertised a thickness of only 5.75mm, the production model is reportedly going to measure a realistic 5.95mm. A few millimeters short from the concept phone.

Still, it’s still quite thin, measuring even slimmer than a Number 2 pencil. And impressive too considering the large battery it houses, 5200 mAh to be exact. Even the 17 Air and S25 Edge couldn’t match that.

Apart from the large battery, leaks also point to a 144Hz 6.78-inch AMOLED display and a single 50 MP rear camera. Unfortunately, that’s all the information that we have on the alleged production version of the Spark Slim concept phone.

Final Thoughts

2025 is shaping up to be the year of thin-and-light smartphones, with every manufacturer racing to pack the most power into some of the slimmest builds we’ve ever seen. Whether this trend will last—or if the technology is even ready for it—remains to be seen.

Nevertheless, it’s exciting to see manufacturers push boundaries with unique designs and innovative engineering.
