Ulefone is a brand popular with its rugged devices and they had a booth to gaze on its latest behemoth – the Armor 23 Ultra at the MWC 2023.
Design
This phone boasts a flagship-tier chipset, powerful cameras, and a massive battery. The most impressive feature of the Armor 23 Ultra is its under-display selfie camera. This means it is the first fully rugged phone with such a feature. Additionally, the also has a two-way satellite messaging, making it extremely helpful in challenging conditions in remote areas.
Despite being heavy, the massive body of the Armor 23 Ultra acts as an extra protective layer to the internals. The phone is lighter than other Armor products and heavier than other Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phones.
Specs
The 6.67” AMOLED screen has with Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, but lacks no massive bezels like most rugged phones. The phone also has 1TB ROM and 16GB of RAM, expandable with up to 8GB more.
The trio of cameras on the phone includes a main 108 MP + 64 MP + 64 MP camera. The selfie camera is just 16M P under-display style camera, which allows for a smoother browsing and content streaming experience.
The battery life and performance of the phone were not tested during our hands-on experience. However, Ulefone claims that the 7,000 mAh battery supports 120W fast charging. This makes the Armor 23 Ultra one of the best IP68-certified MIL-STD-810H-rated flagships capable of enduring rough handling.
