Enjoy the latest titles and over 8,500 PS4 games, along with new upgrades, on the PS5 Pro!
The Sony PlayStation 5 Pro is unveiled with three major upgrades and one big caveat, which may be a sour taste for some console gamers.
According to the official post, the PS5 Pro comes with these improvements over the standard PS5:
- The upgraded GPU has 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory than the current PS5. These values translate to up to 45% faster rendering during gameplay, improving overall experience.
- The advanced ray tracing provides more reflection and refraction of light, giving a more realistic gaming experience. The rays are cast double or even triple at times compared to the current PS5.
- The AI upscaling via the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution uses machine learning to give super sharp image clarity by adding an impressive amount of detail, compared to the current PS5.
Other notable improvements include PS5 Pro Game Boost for PS4 backward compatible to over 8,500 titles, Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 games, 8K gaming, VRR, and Wi-Fi 7, to be launched in territories supporting the standard.
So, how much will these upgrades cost you? It’s priced at USD 699.99 or PHP 39,284.56 to be precise. Apart from improvements, the price tag includes a 2 TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed.
Here’s the caveat: no disc drive for 39K! The disc drive is sold separately. The company said that “players can add an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive or swap out console covers when they become available.”
The PS5 Pro is launching on November 7 and will be available at participating retailers and directly from PlayStation. You can preorder the new console starting September 26.
