Tired of plugging in your phone? Infinix might just have the answer

Infinix just made the impossible possible.

The idea of wirelessly charging a phone has been around for decades, starting with the Palm Pre. And, while it does offer a somehow untethered experience, you would still need to find a power source for the charger itself.

Infinix sought to change that experience and offer a truly wireless experience by harnessing the power of the sun in the palm of your hand… literally (a little Spider-Man reference for all you nerds). The Chinese tech company showcased a solar-powered case and phone in their MWC 2025 booth in Barcelona, Spain.

Infinix called this the SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology, which they showcased in both a phone and a phone case. The technology works by capturing rays of light, processing them with the help of AI-driven algorithms, and finally feeding it through a series of pins found on the case and on the phone itself.

What’s even more surprising is that the technology works even when using artificial sources of light. Although, Infinix isn’t promoting the technology as a main source of power; it’s more or less a backup source should you find yourself stranded with no access to power.

Along with the Solar Energy-Reserving Technology, Infinix has also employed what they call “Sunflower” Wireless Charging Technology. As the name suggests, it mimics the behavior of sunflowers, which face the direction of the sun to get the optimal amount of sunlight.

Sure, the concept does seem a little gimmicky, but, given how energy prices continue to soar in the Philippines, we think that this technology, coupled with an affordable price, would appeal to many Filipinos who struggle with their electric bill.
