Transsion is on its way to becoming a key smartphone player in the Philippines.
Transsion, the parent company of itel, Infinix, and TECNO, continues its momentum in the Philippines. TECNO, in particular, showed exceptional performance with 18.9% market share and 132.4% of year-over-year growth in the third quarter of 2024.
According to Q3 2024 Region Spotlight of IDC, Transsion got a market share of 37% and YoY growth of 63% in the country. It was followed by realme, OPPO, Xiaomi, and Samsung, all of which were seen with growth in the same quarter.
In other SEA nations, Transsion had a stunning 173% YoY growth in Malaysia and 32% YoY growth in Indonesia, the largest market in the region. The company also has the second-biggest market share of 15% in Malaysia and 18% in Indonesia.
Transsion’s performance in Q3 2024 placed it at the third spot of the SEA Top 5 Companies with 58% of YoY growth, the highest of the five brands. It shipped 25.4 million units – equivalent to an 11% YoY growth.
The figures are close to the findings of Canalys. Transsion grabbed 33% of the market share in the Philippines, 18% in Indonesia, and 13% in Malaysia.
Although economic challenges are palpable, the brands maintained their strong performance with marketing efforts, leading to a greater presence in stores. Partnerships with telcos and retailers resulted in more affordable plans.
