This agreement unlocks new opportunities for collaboration on clean energy solutions and bolsters energy security for both nations. Together, the U.S. and the Philippines can make significant strides towards achieving shared climate goals.

The 123 Agreement establishes a framework for peaceful nuclear cooperation, allowing the transfer of materials, equipment, and expertise for the development of a safe, secure, and modern civil nuclear sector in the Philippines. This collaborative effort will prioritize:

  • Skilled Workforce Development: Building a strong talent pool to ensure the safe and effective operation of nuclear facilities.
  • Robust Regulations: Implementing comprehensive safety and security standards aligned with international best practices.
  • Strong Commercial Partnerships: Fostering collaboration between U.S. and Philippine companies to advance clean energy solutions.

The U.S. remains committed to working closely with the Philippines to achieve these goals and further strengthen the U.S.-Philippines partnership.
