UD Asks: iOS 26 — Upgrade Now or Wait?

An image posing a question about iOS 26. A smartphone, likely an iPhone, is centered in the frame, displaying its home screen with a new layout. The screen features redesigned widgets for weather and contacts, and the app icons appear to be in a grid with rounded corners. The words "UD ASKS" are at the top, and "iOS 26" is written in large, bold letters on either side of the phone. A yellow banner at the bottom asks, "UD Asks: iOS 26 — Upgrade Now or Wait?"

The wait is over!

The wait is over! Apple’s new iOS 26 is here, bringing a host of new features on top of the Liquid Glass redesign. But the question remains: should you upgrade now, or wait until the kinks get sorted?

We’re here to help you decide if it’s the right time for you to make the jump.

What’s New?

Before we give you our honest opinion, let’s go over the features this update brings. Of course, the biggest one is the most significant design overhaul in years, which Apple calls “Liquid Glass.”

As the name suggests, the new interface brings a more translucent and fluid design to the entire UI. Beyond the redesign, iOS 26 is packed with new features that bring out your iPhone’s full potential.

Some of these features include:

  • Improvements to Apple Intelligence – When it was first introduced, some fans were a bit underwhelmed. With iOS 26, it brings enhanced AI features like Live Translation for real-time conversations in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone calls.
  • Redesigned Photos App – Apple went back to the basics and streamlined the layout of the Photos app with customizable collections and improved search capabilities.
  • Upgrades to iMessage – With iOS 26, you can now add custom backgrounds to spice up your conversations, create polls in group chats, and add emoji and sticker tapbacks.
  • Adaptive Power Mode – Users of iPhone 15 and up now have the ability to toggle this mode, which automatically makes adjustments to extend your battery life.
  • AutoMix – With Apple Music’s AutoMix feature, you can seamlessly transition from one song to the next without any awkward silence in between.

Upgrade Now: Why You Shouldn’t Wait

The interface itself is enough to make any iPhone user excited to update. After all, it’s Apple’s biggest redesign in years, breathing new life into your current iPhone. By upgrading now, you get immediate access to the Liquid Glass design and the latest Apple Intelligence features (if your iPhone supports them).

Additionally, Apple’s public releases are generally stable. If there are specific bugs, Apple quickly rolls out patches to address those issues, so you likely won’t have to wait long for a fix.

Wait a While: Reasons to Hold Off

We get it. Jumping on the latest software can be exciting, but it can also be a bit scary, especially if the iPhone you’re upgrading is your daily driver. Although bug reports are minimal, the sheer number of features that an update of this magnitude brings can cause occasional issues, like a laggy lock screen.

If you’re particularly sensitive to minor bugs or rely on your iPhone for critical tasks, you might consider waiting for the first bug-fix update.

When Is It Available in the Philippines?
