Alright, alright, alright… We’re back again with another UD Versus. This time, it’s between two of the hottest Transsion phones in the market: the TECNO POVA 7 and the Infinix HOT 60 Pro.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, chances are, you didn’t know TECNO and Infinix came from the same company, similar to how REDMI and POCO are under the Xiaomi umbrella.

Launched just a month apart from each other, both are competing to be the best budget gaming phone under ₱10K. Enough chitchat already; let’s get this show on the road!

Round 1: Design & Display

Although both of these phones compete for the title of the best budget gaming phone, each offers its own flavor, catering to different consumers. The TECNO POVA 7 offers a more futuristic and edgy vibe with its Interstellar Spaceship Design, while the Infinix HOT 60 Pro opts for a tried-and-tested design language, doing away with flashy stuff.

The Infinix HOT 60 Pro is also lighter at 170g versus the TECNO POVA 7’s 203g and a hell of a lot thinner compared to the latter at 6.6mm as opposed to the POVA 7’s 9.3mm. It all comes down to preferences: do you prefer to stand out, or do you prefer to keep it low-key but still be thin and light?

Both phones are rated for IP64 dust and water resistance, but the HOT 60 Pro ups the game with Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

As for the display, while both phones come with a 6.78-inch display, the HOT 60 Pro edges out the POVA 7 with a slightly higher display resolution at 1224 x 2720 compared to the POVA 7’s 1080 x 2460. It’s also a lot smoother with a 144Hz refresh rate compared to the POVA 7’s 120Hz.

Winner: Infinix HOT 60 Pro. As we’ve always said, design is subjective, so we’ll leave that decision to the user. But if we’re talking about the features, it’s clear that the HOT 60 Pro has a lot more to offer.

Round 2: Performance

Let me ask you a question: if you didn’t know anything about chipsets, you’d think that the Helio G200 is a better, more powerful choice, right? But you’d be wrong. Despite the big jump in number, the G200 doesn’t really offer much of an advantage over the G100.

Sure, you might consider the minor GPU clock speed boost and enhanced camera features an advantage, but it’s more of an incremental improvement rather than a major performance leap.

In AnTuTu Benchmark 10, the POVA 7 garnered a score of 439,480, while the HOT 60 Pro squeezed out a bit more at 444,826.

Geekbench 6 told a similar story, with the POVA 7 garnering 729 in Single-Core and 1996 in Multi-Core. On the other hand, the HOT 60 Pro managed to garner 732 in Single-Core and 2037 in Multi-Core.

Winner: Infinix HOT 60 Pro. It was close, but the numbers don’t lie.

Round 3: Camera

While not marketed for their camera performance, TECNO and Infinix still kitted their phones with capable cameras, with the POVA 7 leading the pack, having a 108 MP main camera, compared to the HOT 60 Pro’s 50 MP.

The HOT 60 Pro hits back in the selfie camera department with a better 13 MP front-facing camera, slightly besting the POVA 7’s 8 MP sensor.

Winner: TECNO POVA 7. In sheer MP count, the POVA 7 has the edge. Still, it all falls upon the user, since beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Round 4: Battery and Charging

Now, this is where the POVA 7 really shines, boasting a massive 7000 mAh battery compared to the HOT 60 Pro’s 5160 mAh battery. It’s not really a competition in this department, considering both come with 45W fast charging and both offer 10W reverse wired charging.

Winner: TECNO POVA 7. Do we really need to say more?

Round 5: Price and Software

Both phones run Android 15 out of the box, but each has its own take, with Infinix running XOS 15.1 on top and TECNO running HIOS 15. Looks-wise, XOS 15.1 is your traditional Android look, while HIOS 15 offers a more minimalist and Nothing-esque look to its skin.

As of this writing, the POVA 7 retails for ₱7,199 for the 8GB/128GB variant, while the HOT 60 Pro has a starting price of ₱6,999 with a starting price of ₱5,999.

Winner: TECNO POVA 7.

UD Verdict: TECNO POVA 7

The battle was close; both phones traded blows, but the crown ultimately falls to the TECNO POVA 7 because of its massive battery and higher megapixel count. But that’s not to say that the HOT 60 Pro isn’t good; it actually provides a good value.

It all falls down to you, the consumer, and your preferences. If you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb and value portability, then the Infinix HOT 60 Pro could be for you. Maybe if you wanted more portability, opt for its even thinner and lighter sibling, the HOT 60 Pro+.

But if you’re looking to stand out and keep the day going, then the TECNO POVA 7 is the right one for you.
