Unboxing The POCO F7 Pro: Is This the Ultimate Bang-for-Buck Phone?

Sequels are a tricky thing to do; expectations are high because it falls on you to mirror or even top the success of the previous iteration. The same can be said about the POCO F7 Pro, POCO’s follow-up to the widely popular POCO F6 Series. So, how does the POCO F7 Pro measure up?

Unboxing the POCO F7 Pro

The POCO kept things simple and premium with the POCO F7 Pro’s packaging. The black and yellow box is undeniably POCO; inside, you’ll get the essentials:

  • The POCO F7 Pro itself
  • A 90W fast charger
  • A USB Type-C cable
  • A black silicone case
  • A SIM ejector tool
  • Some documentation, including the user manual and warranty info

We would’ve loved to see some earphones or even a headphone jack adapter, but at this point, we kind of expected the opposite.

First Impressions

Feels As Good As It Looks

upper half of the POCO F7 Pro.

Subtle but eye-catching—that’s how I would describe the POCO F7 Pro’s design. The rear panel, which is split into two distinct sections, gives it its unique and industrial design. The upper half sports a glossy, reflective finish that gives emphasis to the circular camera module.

While the lower half consists of a smooth matte finish that makes it resistant to fingerprint smudges while adding contrast to the glossy upper half. The elegance doesn’t stop there. The surrounding metal frame makes for a delightful holding experience.

It’s also surprisingly slim and lightweight, coming in at just 8.1 mm thin and weighing just 206 g. Despite the F7 Pro’s elegant appearance, it sports an IP68 dust and water rating along with a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i that keeps it safe from accidental slips and falls.

Media Powerhouse

It wouldn’t be a media consumption beast if it didn’t have a great screen; after all, it’s the first and last thing you’ll see when using the device. The 6.67-inch OLED display is nothing short of stunning. Colors are rich, blacks are deep, and it gets super bright at 3200 nits, so gaming or watching outside won’t be a problem.

The 120Hz refresh rate ensures that scrolling and animations look and feel buttery smooth. Paired that with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and you have a display that doesn’t just feel good but also looks good.

Beastly Performance

Ah yes, the star of the show. Given that it’s a POCO phone, you know that it’ll pack a powerful punch, more than enough for day-to-day use.

Under the hood, the F7 Pro features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which is still a hell of a chipset considering that it’s a year old. It’s still a hell of a chipset, easily blowing anything you throw at it. Paired that with either 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, and you’ll never experience lags or space anxieties ever again.

Coming over to the software side, the POCO F7 Pro rocks the latest HyperOS 2 on top of Android 15. HyperOS 2 is impressive on its own, introducing a slew of AI-powered features that will surely make your life a lot easier. Features such as AI search, AI writing, AI speech recognition, and a whole lot more. The F7 Pro isn’t all brute force; it also gives a soft touch.

The POCO F7 Pro rocks a 50 MP main camera with Optical Image Stabilization, giving you clearer and more stable shots, even in low light conditions. Need to go even wider? Worry no more, as the 8 MP ultrawide lens is here to give you that detailed 0.5 look.

Video isn’t also a problem; the POCO F7 Pro can do up to 8K, which is impressive; however, we think that most people will stick to 4K or 1080p for smoother frame rates.

Want to take a selfie? Then you’ll find the 20 MP front camera more than enough for those spur-of-the-moment selfies. Skin tones look natural and sharp, making it great not just for selfies but also for video calls.

Charge Fast, Last Long

Cutting-edge performance would be useless if it didn’t have the power to back it up. POCO not only delivered, but they also killed it with the battery life. On paper, it doesn’t look that impressive, only having 5300 mAh, but the special sauce is in the type of battery used. POCO opted to use Silicon Carbon (Si/C) to power the F7 Pro, which offers longer battery life and faster charging times.

And, if you ever run out of juice, the 90W fast charger could charge your phone from 0 to 100% in just under an hour, giving you more time for gaming and less time on the socket.

Final Thoughts

We think that the POCO F7 Pro does justice to its name; it’s a true flagship device without the flagship price. With a premium design, stunning display, a powerful processor, and a solid camera, the POCO F7 Pro is shaping up to be a serious contender for the flagship killer title of 2025.
