Avoid responding to shared watch faces to spare your Messages app from crashes on iOS 18.
iOS 18 is now available. While iPhone 15 Pro model users are enjoying the first taste of Apple Intelligence, the same can’t be said to those suffering from an annoying bug.
According to a report, everything starts when someone shares a watch face using the Apple Watch. This is a native feature that lets users share their personalized watch face configurations.
The bug is triggered when you reply to the shared watch face in a thread on the Messages app of iOS 18. If you do that, the app crashes when you try to open the conversation within the app. That means, sending or replying to other conversations in the app will be difficult, thanks to repeating crashes.
Here’s the kicker. The bug can happen on the Messages app of iOS 18.1 beta, iPadOS 18.1 beta, and macOS 15.1 too! Once the bug is triggered, it will affect you and the user who shared the watch face.
So, delete the thread to fix the problem. That’s easier said than done due to the crashes. Even if you succeed, you’ll also delete the conversation history of the app. Pics and vids that weren’t saved outside of the Message app will be deleted as well. If you restore the thread, the bug is restored too.
Obviously, Apple will release a patch for this but until then, do not reply to the shared watch face at all costs.
