vivo V80 tipped to launch with 7,200mAh battery and 144Hz display.

The vivo V80 could arrive next month with longer battery life and a smoother gaming experience.

vivo could be preparing to launch its next premium mid-range smartphone sooner than expected. A new leak suggests the upcoming vivo V80 will debut in mid-August, bringing a larger battery, a faster display, and several familiar features from its predecessor.

The latest information comes from X tipster Sanju Choudhary, who also shared several of the phone’s expected specifications.

Bigger battery, smoother display

According to the leak, the vivo V80 will feature a 6.59-inch flat AMOLED display, the same size as last year’s model. However, vivo is reportedly upgrading the refresh rate from 120Hz to 144Hz, allowing supported games to run at up to 144fps for a smoother gaming experience.

One of the biggest upgrades is expected to be the battery. The vivo V80 is rumored to pack a 7,200mAh battery, a significant jump from the 6,500mAh battery found in the vivo V70.

The phone is also expected to support 90W wired fast charging, along with bypass charging, which helps reduce heat by powering the phone directly instead of charging the battery during gaming or other demanding tasks.

Familiar chipset and camera setup

On the performance side, the vivo V80 is expected to continue using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, the same chipset found in the previous two generations.

The vivo V70 delivered around a 14% improvement in multi-core performance over its predecessor in Geekbench tests, while single-core performance remained largely unchanged. It remains to be seen how vivo will further optimize the chipset, especially with the addition of the faster 144Hz display.

For photography, the leak points to a quad-camera setup consisting of:

  • 50MP main camera
  • 50MP 3x telephoto camera
  • 8MP ultra-wide camera
  • 50MP front-facing camera

These camera resolutions are identical to the vivo V70. However, the leak did not reveal any additional details about the sensors or camera hardware.

Could be a rebranded vivo S60

The report also suggests the vivo V80 could be a rebranded version of the vivo S60, which was launched exclusively in China earlier this year.

Most of the specifications are said to match, with one key difference. While the vivo S60 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the global vivo V80 is expected to use the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 instead.

Other rumored features include IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance and a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.

Although vivo has yet to officially confirm the device, the latest leak suggests the V80 could arrive with meaningful upgrades in battery life and display performance while keeping many of the features that made its predecessor popular. If the report is accurate, the smartphone could make its official debut in mid-August.
