vivo X500 leak reveals a huge battery, flagship camera hardware, and a surprising chipset choice

vivo X500 leak reveals a huge battery, flagship camera hardware, and a surprising chipset choice.

vivo may have found the sweet spot between flagship and practical.

New leaks have surfaced for the upcoming vivo X500 series, revealing fresh details about the standard vivo X500’s display, chipset, cameras, and battery.

The information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, whose latest leak sheds light on vivo’s current X500 engineering sample. While the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to headline the series, the vanilla X500 appears to be shaping up as a compelling option of its own, combining flagship-grade camera hardware, a massive battery, and a slightly more accessible chipset.

According to the leak, the current engineering sample features a 6.59-inch flat display with a centered punch-hole design. That matches earlier reports pointing to a larger screen for the standard model compared to the compact X500 Pro.

Under the hood, the X500 is reportedly powered by MediaTek’s upcoming 3nm Dimensity 9500 chipset, referred to in the leak as the “DX5.” That’s a notable detail because previous rumors suggested vivo’s next flagship family could move entirely to the Dimensity 9600 series.

If accurate, vivo may be deliberately positioning the standard X500 as the more accessible option in the lineup, reserving the higher-end Dimensity 9600 chips for the Pro and Pro Max variants.

The camera setup also looks promising. Digital Chat Station claims the prototype is equipped with a 50MP primary camera using a large 1/1.28-inch sensor. The phone is also said to feature a periscope telephoto camera.

Interestingly, the tipster suggests vivo could be testing the same 64MP periscope sensor that’s reportedly being evaluated for the X500 Pro, though this detail has yet to be finalized.

Battery capacity could be another major selling point. The engineering sample is reportedly testing with a battery in the 7,500mAh range, which is particularly impressive considering the phone’s sub-6.6-inch form factor.

That figure also aligns with previous reports claiming the entire X500 family will feature batteries exceeding 7,000mAh. For comparison, the vivo X300 series topped out at around 6,510mAh on the Pro model.

Based on current leaks, vivo appears to be building a three-tier flagship strategy for the X500 series.

At the top sits the rumored vivo X500 Pro Max, which is expected to feature a 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro chipset, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, an 8,000mAh battery, and a 6.85-inch 2K LTPO display.

The vivo X500 Pro is expected to occupy the middle ground. Previous leaks point to a 6.37-inch form factor, a Dimensity 9600 chipset, a 50MP LOFIC main camera, and a battery capacity exceeding 7,000mAh.

The standard vivo X500, meanwhile, appears to focus on delivering a large battery, a flagship-grade main camera sensor, and a larger display while dialing back the chipset slightly compared to its more expensive siblings.

As always, these specifications are based on an engineering prototype, meaning details could change before launch. Still, the latest leak suggests vivo’s next flagship family is shaping up to be one of the most battery-focused premium smartphone lineups we’ve seen yet.
