vivo’s next flagship lineup is already starting to take shape, and a new leak suggests the upcoming X500 series could place an even bigger focus on camera hardware. Fresh details from tipster Smart Pikachu point to what appears to be the vivo X500 Pro Max, a high-end model tipped to feature a new LOFIC main sensor and a massive 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
According to the leak, the vivo X500 lineup is expected to arrive in two display size options: 6.4-inch and 6.9-inch variants. The larger model is rumored to carry the vivo X500 Max branding.
Earlier reports also claimed vivo may be considering a third option. A mid-sized flagship with a 6.59-inch display giving the series a broader range of form factors for different users.
The biggest highlight of the leak is the camera system on the rumored vivo X500 Pro Max.
It is reportedly being tested with a 50MP LOFIC primary camera. LOFIC, short for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor, is a sensor technology designed to reduce pixel overexposure in bright scenes by storing overflow electrons in a capacitor. In simple terms, it helps improve dynamic range, preserving more detail in highlights and shadows.
The phone is also tipped to feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera, suggesting vivo is doubling down on long-range photography. While not directly confirmed in the leak, the setup may also include a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
vivo is reportedly evaluating the addition of a multispectral sensor as well, which could improve color accuracy and white balance for more natural-looking photos.
Separate reports claim the vivo X500 could use the upcoming Dimensity 9600 chipset, while the higher-end Pro Max model may feature the more powerful Dimensity 9600 Pro.
The standard Dimensity 9600 is rumored to be built on a 3nm process using an enhanced version of the current Dimensity 9500+ architecture.
Meanwhile, the Pro variant is said to use a newer 2nm-class architecture with a dual ultra-core setup and clock speeds nearing 5GHz, potentially delivering major gains in both speed and efficiency.
The vivo X500 series is expected to launch in China sometime in September this year. The same event may also introduce vivo’s first dedicated vlogging camera, adding more interest to the company’s next hardware showcase.
