It has been reported that a well-liked puzzle game on Google Play Store exposed player progress information. The game is Fruits Mania: Belle’s Adventure, where players must solve puzzles in order to try to save the “poor fairies from the greedy raccoons.”

One of the many apps on the Play Store that hard codes data into the client side is Fruit Mania: Belle’s Adventure.  Because of that, there is a strong possibility that bad hackers will obtain API keys, Google storage buckets, and databases, which could result in information exploitation through the analysis of publicly available data.

Over 17,000 users have given the game Fruits Mania: Belle’s Adventure a 4.7 stars review and it has received over a million downloads from the Google Play store.

How does it affect players?

According to Cybernews, if the issue is exploited, it can impede gamers’ gaming progress. Fruit Mania: Belle’s Adventure left a database open that might reveal user information. It is claimed that the puzzle game’s 240 MB database, which contains user IDs and game progress, is open to the public. This happened as a result of Firebase being used without permission.

The game progress of any player can be lost if a hacker has access to data. In addition, the move is claimed to be irreversible, meaning that without a backup, players would lose all of their previous progress.

BitMango, the creator of Fruits Mania: Belle’s Adventure, cautions players to exercise caution because their portfolio includes other games. It would be preferable to preserve your game progress even though other games from the same creator may have a publicly accessible database or not.
