Why We Ranked Realme C35 As “Needs Improvement

The realme C35 is the company’s response to affordable flagship-looking phones. In fact, this phone borrows design ideas from iPhones with its glossy back finish and its camera module. Is this enough to bring it to the Super sulit tier list? Unfortunately, it doesn’t, and these are the reasons why we ranked this phone as “Needs Improvement”.

DISPLAY

The realme C35 features a 6.6 inch IPS LCD screen with a 1080×2400 FHD+ display. For its price, it’s a really good starting phone that should impress you in addition to the already stunning design. The phone doesn’t have Gorilla Glass, and realme opted for Panda glass instead. Some Nokia phones actually use this Gorilla Glass-alternative as well.

Viewing pictures and videos on the realme C35 is a real treat. Even though the bezels could use some trimming, we have to consider this phone is a budget phone.

The FHD+ resolution will really grab your attention, so you wont notice the thick bezels and the water drop display. However, this is the area of improvement it really needs to work on, as there are phones in its price range that offer better design and screen real estate. However, what it lacks in display, it makes up for its performance.

PERFORMANCE

We’ll start with storage. This phone has two variants: 4GB|64GB and 4GB|128. It’s partly the reason why it’s also cheaper as most phones in the 4GB RAM fall under PHP10,000. This amount of RAM should be able to handle everyday phone use like Facebook, Youtube or Tiktok.

If you’re a gamer, there will be instances where 4GB it’s not enough. However, this phone can run Mobile Legends on its highest settings. Ultra settings are not available yet with the realme C35 since compatibility rests on the hands of the game developers.

The good thing about the chipset (Unisoc Tiger T616) is that it doesn’t overheat as much. Overheating is a real problem today’s latest chipsets, which can severely affect battery life. The realme C35’s combination of a basic but efficient chipset and an impressive screen make this phone a great gaming phone alternative if you’re into Mobile Legends.

Don’t expect the Unisoc Tiger T616 chipset to do good though, since it can’t handle more robust games like Genshin Impact. However, this phone can still play said game, not just at the level of gaming phones that sell over PHP20,000. For a phone that uses a really unpopular chipset, it didn’t do so bad.

CAMERA

The phone has a triple camera setup, but it’s missing ultrawide for group selfies or for instances where scenic shots would require a wide field of view. It’s equipped with a 50MP main camera, which should give enough detail for everyday portraits or just about anything that can be captioned “instagrammable.”

The 2MP macro camera will be useful in for close up shots, and the 0.8MP depth sensor should give a great effect to portraits. The phone is able to capture photos with sharp details thanks to its 50MP main camera, however, the colors lack vibrance and perform well in extremely bad lighting conditions.

We suggest using the cameras in places where there is good lighting, as it naturally brings the sharpness to where the phone can be comparable to devices higher than its price range. Photos taken using its main camera are clear and the details

The main camera can record videos in 1080p which should be enough fo capture moments of your life, or making videos on Faceook and Tiktok. It’s a creator’s tool  which will be extremely useful for continuously uploading content.

BATTERY

The phone uses a 5000mAh LiPo battery. It’’s perfectly reasonable to have this on a budget phone since most phones on our category either have 500mAh or better specs. The realme C35 is equipped with an 18W fast charger which is okay at its price point.

The huge 5000mAh battery should give enough power for gaming for at least an hour, but the realme C35 isn’t a gaming phone. There’s not much going on in the battery section since most phones in its tierlist either lower their prices for a 5000mAh default battery size.

PRICING

The realme C35 is currently priced at PHP8,999 for the 4GB|64GB variant, and PHP 9,499 for the 6GB|128GB version. It’s honestly giving Samsung vibes in terms of pricing, and for a phone that’s supposed to help people with budget friendly devices, it’s not close to what it’s known for.

However, this phone is okay in some aspects. It excels in terms of design and the main camera, but brings nothing remarkable and unforgettable in other aspects. That’s why this phone ranks “Needs Improvement” on our tier list.
