Xiaomi has built a reputation for delivering high-quality flagship phones, and with the Xiaomi 15, they’ve taken everything they’ve learned and refined it even further. From a stunning Leica-powered camera system to the ultra-fast Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a brilliant 3200-nit AMOLED display, this phone is designed to impress at every turn. But is it truly the best Xiaomi phone yet? Let’s dive in.
Unboxing Experience: Premium Yet Straight to the Point

Xiaomi has kept things simple when it comes to the packaging, enclosed only in a white box with minimal Xiaomi branding. In fact, the only thing that stands out about the box is the tiny iconic red Leica logo.
Inside the box, you’ll find:
- The Xiaomi 15 itself
- A 90W fast charger with a USB-C cable
- A black protective case
- Paperwork, including the warranty card and user manual
- A SIM ejector tool
Despite having a simple approach, Xiaomi was quite generous in terms of accessories, even going as far as including a protective case.
You’ll find our unboxing video below.
First Impressions: Compact, Comfortable, and Surprisingly Lightweight
The first thing you’ll notice when you pick up the Xiaomi 15 is just how good it feels in your hand. Every time I hold the device, I’m reminded of Thanos’ iconic line in Infinity War, “Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.”

The combination of the aluminum alloy frame and the sandblasted glass back gives it a cool and smooth touch, adding to its premium feel. The weight is just perfect at 191 g, not too light and not too heavy either.

The curved edges make it a perfect candidate for one-handed usage; however, because of the Xiaomi 15’s glass back, it can be quite slippery to hold. Regardless, it’s definitely a phone that you just can’t stop holding.

Display: Bright, Smooth, and Incredibly Immersive
Xiaomi pulled out all the stops when making the Xiaomi 15, starting with the display. Xiaomi has endowed their flagship with a 6.36-inch 1200p LTPO AMOLED display with support for Dolby Vision and HDR10+, giving it excellent clarity, punchy colors, and deep blacks.

And, because it incorporates LTPO technology in its display, the Xiaomi 15 can adaptively adjust the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz depending on the content you’re viewing. This not only gives the user buttery smooth animations, but it also saves battery when viewing static content.
Xiaomi has also done away with optical fingerprint sensors in favor of the much more accurate and responsive ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which translates to faster fingerprint recognition even in wet or dirty conditions.

After years of refinement, Xiaomi has finally achieved true symmetrical bezels with the Xiaomi 15 using a process called LIPO, or Low-injection Pressure Over-molding. Boasting a 1.38mm thin bezel, it squeezes a large display without increasing its physical footprint, therefore giving users a much more immersive experience.

And, to top it all off, the display can go up as much as 3200 nits, which even in intense sunlight can still produce a crystal-clear image. For protection, Xiaomi has enlisted the help of their Xiaomi Shield Glass to ease worries of scratches.
Design and Build: Premium Craftsmanship Done Right
This is where Xiaomi made the best even better. After all, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The matte-finished aluminum alloy frame blending seamlessly with the sandblasted glass back panel that resists fingerprint smudges creates a smooth and elegant aesthetic, amplifying what a premium smartphone should be.

The unit that we have here is the Black variant, but you could also get it in White and Green. And there’s also an eye-catching limited edition Liquid Silver variant that looks like there’s an ocean behind your Xiaomi 15.

You’ll find the volume rocker and the power button on the right side. Beneath, you’ll find one of the two stereo speakers, along with the USB Type-C port and the SIM slot. The left side is clear aside from the antenna lines, which you can also find on the other sides of the Xiaomi 15.

At the back, you’ll find the camera system housed in a raised rectangular island along with a mini LED flash.
Camera: Elevating Mobile Photography
Welcome to the star of the show, the camera setup. Xiaomi has seriously stepped up their game with the Xiaomi 15’s triple Leica camera system. It delivers stunning photos regardless of skill.

The Xiaomi 15’s camera boasts an impressive stable of camera hardware which includes:
- 50MP Main Camera (f/1.62, Leica Summilux lens) – For those uninitiated, Summilux is Leica’s premier lens for large apertures, and the Xiaomi 15’s main camera having that certification is a testament to the lens’ amazing low-light performance.

- 50MP Telephoto Lens (60mm, f/2.0, Floating Lens Design) – Whether you’re taking a photo of a droplet in a leaf or zooming out to capture the horizon, this lens provides you with the same level of clarity as with that of the main camera.

- 50MP Ultra-Wide (14mm, f/2.2) – Want to capture the vastness of the landscape you’re in or just want to take a photo of the whole group? This lens will give you that with minimal distortion.

Notice how all these lenses have large apertures? Xiaomi intended that to boost the Xiaomi 15’s performance in low light as well as to give the camera a shorter exposure time to keep up with fast-moving objects which is exemplified by the example below.

The Xiaomi 15 also shoots video at 8K 30fps as well as 4K Dolby Vision at 60fps to provide users with pro-level footage. Additionally, it also sports a 4-mic array to ensure that your video gets the best sound. Check out the Xiaomi 15’s video performance below.
Of course, hardware is just one part of the shooting process; the other half is processing. Xiaomi made sure to cover that aspect with the Xiaomi AISP 2.0, which leverages advanced AI features to provide users with clearer, more natural-looking images. Processing speed has also improved, which makes shooting a lot faster.

Performance: Fast, Cool, and Built for Power Users
It wouldn’t be a flagship phone without a flagship chipset. Under the hood, the Xiaomi 15 features the best that Qualcomm has to offer, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, ensuring zero lag, instant app launches, and seamless multitasking.
On its own, the Snapdragon 8 Elite boasts an impressive 45% CPU gain while consuming 52% less power as well as 44% better GPU performance with 46% lower power usage.
All of these gains are useless if you don’t know how to cool it down. Which is why Xiaomi has employed their IceLoop cooling system in maintaining the Xiaomi 15’s thermals. Xiaomi was able to do this by increasing the contact area, thus improving heat dissipation.
Giving power users buttery smooth performance at no cost to thermal performance, whether it’s playing Genshin Impact or CODM on ultra settings or editing high-res videos, the Xiaomi 15 handles it with no sweat.

Battery life is another win for the Xiaomi 15, boasting a 5240mAh battery. It is sure to last you through the day. Charging is also no mean feat for the Xiaomi 15, as it supports 90W wired fast charging and a whopping 50W wireless HyperCharge.
AI Features: Smart, Subtle, and Actually Useful
Whether we like it or not, AI is the future; it’s in almost every device conceivable. However, executions tend to be hit or miss, which is why Xiaomi focused its AI integration on the features that matter the most.
Some of these AI features include:
- AI Writing—It helps users summarize, fix grammatical errors, and generate content based on their needs. What’s even more useful is that it works in all text-writing applications.
- AI Recorder—Assigned to take minutes of the meeting? Say no more. This feature will help you transcribe, summarize, and recognize speakers.
- AI Dynamic Wallpapers—Tired of the same old static wallpaper that comes pre-installed? This feature will transform your photos into animated, cinematic backgrounds.
- AI Photo Editing—Xiaomi has introduced a slew of AI photo editing features such as AI Erase Pro, AI Reflection Removal, and AI Image Expansion to give users additional control over their photos.
- Google Gemini AI Integration—If you want more processing power, Gemini is here to help you with deeper, more complex tasks.
The AI features on their own would need a separate article to cover; that’s how feature-packed the Xiaomi 15 is. What we like about it is that these are features that improve the experience, rather than just being another gimmick that no one uses.
Takeaway
The Xiaomi 15 is a true flagship that delivers in all aspects. It’s speedy, wonderfully built, and comes with one of the greatest smartphone cameras on the market. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, AI advancements, and ultra-bright display give it the sensation of a truly next-generation gadget.
If you want a phone that is powerful, sleek, and truly cutting-edge, the Xiaomi 15 is worth every penny.
