A new leak suggests that the upcoming Xiaomi 16 series will include Nokia’s OZO Audio software. The move would equip Xiaomi’s new flagships with a suite of professional audio tools to enhance video recording quality.

OZO Audio: What It Does
Originally developed for professional VR cameras, OZO Audio is a software package designed for precision sound capture. The leak indicates the Xiaomi 16 will use its key features:
- Audio Zoom: A feature that focuses the microphone on a specific sound source as the user zooms in on the video.
- Audio Windscreen: A digital tool to suppress wind noise during outdoor recording.
- 3D Audio: A technology that captures immersive, spatial soundscapes.
Strategic Move
The integration of OZO Audio would position Xiaomi to better compete with rivals like Apple and Google, who already offer similar “Audio Zoom” and “Speech Enhancement” features on their flagship phones.
The leak also suggests that this feature will not be exclusive to the Xiaomi 16 series. It could be rolled out to older flagships, including the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and the Xiaomi 15 series, via a HyperOS 3 update. This would provide a significant audio upgrade for a wider range of users.
