Leaked information suggests the Xiaomi 16 series will launch in the last week of September, earlier than its predecessors. This move is reportedly a strategic decision to align with the release of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 2 chipset, making Xiaomi one of the first companies to market with the new processor.

Why the Early Release?
Leaks suggest the launch will take place in the last week of September, specifically between the 24th and 26th. This is no accident. Qualcomm’s annual Snapdragon Summit is scheduled for September 23, and by launching just days later, Xiaomi can instantly showcase its new phones powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 2 (or 8 Elite Gen 5). This timing offers a competitive edge and signals a strategic change from previous years when the company’s flagships debuted in October.
What to Expect from the Xiaomi 16 Series
The rumors, which have been corroborated by multiple sources, point to a trio of devices at launch: the standard Xiaomi 16, the Xiaomi 16 Pro, and a new compact Xiaomi 16 Pro mini. While the Xiaomi 16 Ultra is expected later, the initial lineup promises significant upgrades.
- Displays: The standard and “mini” models are tipped to feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro variant will go for a larger 6.8-inch screen.
- Battery & Charging: The series is rumored to support 100W wired charging across the board. The base model, in particular, is said to pack a massive 6,800mAh battery.
- Cameras: The devices are expected to feature a triple-camera setup with three 50MP sensors. A new 50MP front-facing camera with autofocus is also rumored, which would be a notable improvement for selfies and video calls.
While these details are unconfirmed, the collective evidence from various leaks paints a compelling picture of a series designed to make a splash.
