The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is still months away from launch, but a new leak is already shedding light on what could be one of the biggest camera upgrades in the series yet.
According to a new rumor from China, Xiaomi‘s upcoming flagship could arrive with not one, but two 200MP cameras. The setup is said to include a 200MP main camera using a new-generation 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor, alongside a 200MP periscope telephoto camera featuring a 1/1.56-inch sensor, 3x optical zoom, and an f/2.4 aperture.
The telephoto camera is also tipped to support macro photography from as close as 15cm, allowing users to capture detailed close-up shots using the periscope lens.
If accurate, this would mark a significant shift from the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. The current model features a 50MP main camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The rumored Xiaomi 18 Pro Max would not only quadruple the megapixel count on both cameras but also improve telemacro focusing distance from 30cm to 15cm.
Beyond the cameras, previous leaks have suggested the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
The device is also rumored to feature a large 6.9-inch flat LIPO OLED display and retain one of the lineup’s most distinctive features: the rear display found on its predecessor. Xiaomi is also said to be working on improved speakers and a more refined vibration motor for a better overall user experience.
While Xiaomi has yet to confirm any details, the latest leak suggests the company is putting a major focus on camera hardware for its next-generation flagship. If the rumored specifications hold true, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could become one of the most camera-focused smartphones in Xiaomi’s lineup to date.
As with all pre-release leaks, the information should be treated with caution until Xiaomi makes an official announcement.
