Xiaomi has become the latest Android smartphone brand to add support for Apple‘s AirDrop protocol through Quick Share, making it easier for users to transfer files between Xiaomi and Apple devices.
The announcement was made through the official HyperOS account on X, where Xiaomi stated that AirDrop support is now available via Quick Share.

According to the post, users can now enjoy fast and seamless sharing of photos and files from compatible Xiaomi devices to Apple products. The feature is being promoted as part of Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem, alongside the upcoming HyperOS 3 update.
While the announcement confirms AirDrop support, Xiaomi did not specify which devices are compatible. It also remains unclear whether the feature is available across all Xiaomi smartphones and tablets or only on select models.
For users who own both a Xiaomi device and an Apple product, testing the feature should be straightforward. When sharing a file through Quick Share on a supported Xiaomi device, nearby Apple devices should appear as available recipients.
However, there may be a catch. Similar implementations from other Android manufacturers have required software updates before the feature became available. If Xiaomi is taking the same approach, users may need a HyperOS update before they can access AirDrop support.
That could also mean the rollout may not reach every Xiaomi device immediately, with availability likely depending on device compatibility and update schedules.
With this move, Xiaomi joins a growing list of Android brands working to improve interoperability between Android and Apple’s ecosystems, reducing one of the long-standing barriers to file sharing across platforms.
