Xiaomi is reportedly developing a groundbreaking smartphone, codenamed Zhuque, that will redefine the traditional device design. This innovative handset is expected to hit the market in the first half of 2025 and will boast a unique feature: the complete absence of physical buttons.

While the exact method for controlling this button-less device remains unclear, possibilities include gesture controls,pressure-sensitive edges, or voice commands. Additionally, the Zhuque will feature an under-display selfie camera, aiming to surpass the limitations of previous implementations seen in other smartphones.
Powering this futuristic device will be the upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 SoC, also slated to be used in the Xiaomi 15S Pro, anticipated to launch between April and June 2025. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 4 is anticipated to be an enhanced version of the 8 Gen 4, scheduled to debut in October of this year.
The Zhuque’s success remains to be seen, as it could potentially follow in the footsteps of the niche Meizu Zero, a device that failed to gain widespread traction. Only time will tell if Xiaomi’s ambitious button-less smartphone will be a revolutionary leap forward or merely a fleeting experiment.
