Xiaomi has unveiled a groundbreaking concept phone that could redefine the foldable smartphone market. The device, showcased in a new smartphone patent, features a unique detachable design, allowing users to transform their clamshell foldable into two separate, small-screened phones.
While still in the prototype stage, Xiaomi’s new smartphone patent offers a glimpse into the future of smartphone innovation. When unfolded, it resembles a traditional clamshell foldable with a central crease. However, the phone’s innovative design allows users to detach the two halves, revealing pogo pins that hold the device together.
The top section can even be swiveled, potentially enabling various usage scenarios. Although the exact functionality remains unclear, the patent hints at the possibility of using the detached halves independently or together.
Inside, the new smartphone patent boasts a tall display with a visible central section. Its overall design echoes Xiaomi’s MIX Flip foldable, with a slightly modified camera setup featuring three sensors and an LED flash. The power button, volume keys, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille are conveniently located on the right side and bottom of the device.
While this is currently a patent concept, it offers a tantalizing glimpse into Xiaomi’s vision for future foldables. The new smartphone patent’s detachable design could revolutionize the way we interact with our smartphones, providing unprecedented flexibility and customization options.
